Graduate of Oberlin College, he taught at Georgia State College (1955) and served as editor of publications at the University of California Santa Barbara (1964-70). Published books include the photographic work, The Haciendas of Mexico: an artist's record , and the novels, Adios, mi México, and When the Owl Cries.
