<bioghist><head>Biographical Note</head><p>

Artist and author (1909-1990).  Graduate of Oberlin College, he taught at Georgia State College (1955) and served as editor of publications at the University of California Santa Barbara (1964-70).  Published books include the photographic work, <title render="italic">The Haciendas of Mexico: an artist's record</title> ,  and the novels, <title render="italic">Adios, mi M&#x00E9;xico</title>, and <title render="italic">When the Owl Cries.</title> </p></bioghist><scopecontent encodinganalog="520">
