Finding Aid for the Houston Tri-weekly Telegraph Battle of Sabine Pass Collection, 1863
The Telegraph and Texas Register was originally organized October 10, 1835, at San Felipe de Austin. Printing was interrupted during conflicts with the Mexicans. It was later variously known as the weekly, tri-weekly, or daily Telegraph. On May 2, 1837 the first Houston paper was issued. The Telegraph continued as a weekly until April 30, 1855 when the tri-weekly edition was launched. Then on February 6, 1864, the Daily Telegraph replaced the Tri-Weekly Telegraph.
