A Guide to the Texas State Capitol Building Collection, 1881-1882
There has already been a great deal written about the Capitol and its origins.
Please see Capitol entry, Handbook of Texas Online.
This collection contains two items. The first is a facsimile of the buildling contract between the Capitol Board and the Capitol Syndicate, who were tasked with constructing the Capitol building.
The second item is a published book detailing the technical specifications that will be included in the construction of the Capitol building. The book also includes a printed, blank version of the building contract as well as a spreadsheet description of the lands reserved for the Capitol Syndicate in lieu of a cash payment.
