Historical NoteOn March 16, 1917 the Texas Legislature passed SB 357 (Acts 1917, 35th R.S.,ch. 83, General Laws of Texas) allowing for the prospecting for and the development of the minerals in the public lands of Texas. The Register recorded the applications made to lease land only.
