Josephine Jane Rice PapersAn Inventory to the Collection
Biographical NoteJosephine Jane Rice grew up in Dallas and attended Highland Park High School where she graduated valedictorian of her class in 1941. She obtained a degree in music at TSCW and also participated in the Rifle Team. After college, she joined the Marine Corps and became the first woman machine gun instructor. In 1950, she married in the Little Chapel in-the-Woods on the TSCW campus in Denton. The Woman's Collection is located on the second floor of the Blagg-Huey Library.
