Office Space Committee:
An Inventory of Its Records, 1925-1956, at the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library
As a rapidly growing college, Texas Technological College experienced growing pains in regards to its physical resources. There became an immediate need to assess space utilization for offices and classrooms. This became an ongoing process and the Office Space Committee was formed to facilitate planning for future needs. The Operations Division for Planning and Administration now carries out this function. Its primary role is space planning, information management and information analysis with the core responsibility of collecting, analyzing and disseminating facilities information that can be used to inform Texas Tech University decisions.
This collection consists of office space reports by department heads and deans dated between 1925-1956. It also contains meeting minutes of the Office Space Committee the and Scheduling Committee. This was a coordinated effort to best utilize office and classroom space in a growing institution and included such information as room furniture and equipment inventories, square footage used, and identified which classrooms and office spaces were used by a particular department, faculty member and/or administrator.
Open for research.
