Biographical Sketch

Don Erwin Ethridge was born in Spur, Texas, on July 23, 1942. After receiving his high school diploma from Muleshoe High School, Ethridge went on to receive his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University in 1965 and 1967 respectively, and his doctoral degree in Economics from North Carolina State University in 1970.

From 1981-1984, Ethridge served as an Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics at Texas Tech University. He became tenured and was promoted to the rank of full professor in 1984, and served as chair of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics from 1997-2005. Additionally, he served as Director of the Cotton Economics Research Institute and Associate Director of the CASNR Water Center. Ethridge’s extensive research background and prolific publications have resulted in his obtaining more than 4 million dollars’ worth of grant funding over the course of his academic career.


Scope and Content

The collection consists of Dr. Ethridge's vita from 2008, copies of his numerous research publications from the 1970s to 2009, and a few family photographs dated from 1920-1958. As a Professor Emeritus in 2009, Dr. Ethridge wrote a detailed history on the research activities of the faculty of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Texas Tech from the mid-1920s through 2009.
