The Engliash Microlab Registry (EMR) was a compilation of information about college and university microcomputing
facilities used to teach composition, business and technical writing. By 1986, over 105 labs were listed on
the registry. One of the uses for the registry cited by Dr. Barker was "For researchers, the EMR works like a
bibliography of sites that, surveyed and questioned, can provide insight into such topics as trends in
locally-developed software, networking, and applications."
