		<head>Biographical Sketch</head> 
	 	<p>The Engliash Microlab Registry (EMR) was a compilation of information about college and university microcomputing 
	 		facilities used to teach composition, business and technical writing. By 1986, over 105 labs were listed on 
	 	the registry. One of the uses for the registry cited by Dr. Barker was "For researchers, the EMR works like a 
	 	bibliography of sites that, surveyed and questioned, can provide insight into such topics as trends in 
	 	locally-developed software, networking, and applications."</p>

		<head>Scope and Content</head> 
	 	<p>The collection documents English professor Thomas Barker's activities with the Microcomputer Learning 
	 		Laboratory and its English Microlab Registry (EMR) project at Texas Tech University. Included are Barker's 
	 		papers that he presented at conferences on the project, lesson plans, samples of student writing using 
	 		computers, background information on computer usage in academics at the time, newsletters and 
	 		publications of the EMR, and applications by other computer centers to be listed on the EMR publication.</p>
