Biographical SketchThe Department of Civil Engineering has been increasingly interested in the effects of wind on engineered structures. In 1971 the Institute for Disaster Research was created in response to information gained from the 1970 Lubbock Tornado. In 1988 another center, the Wind Engineering Research Center, was created to broaden the scope of research. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentThe collection contains official correspondence relating to The History of Engineering Program, Chairman Dr. Ernst W.
