Bradford Knapp attended Iowa Agricultural College (now Iowa State University) and the University of Michigan. He married Stella White in 1904, and they had five children. He was appointed a special assistant in the U. S. Department of Agriculture in 1909. In 1914 he was made Chief of the Office of Extension Work for the Southern States. He served as both the director of the state experiment station of Arkansas and Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas.
