She was a reporter and editor for The Columbia Missourian, the Daily Record in Chico, CA, for the International News Service in Chicago and in Des Moines, IA (where she was bureau manager), and for The Panama American in Panama. She also wrote as a freelancer for the Herald in Tulia, TX, The Daily Herald in Plainview, TX, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the Amarillo Globe-News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She was also an advertising copy-writer for Buckner Advertising Agency in Lubbock, and worked as a writer and associate director of the Texas Tech Office of Information Services. In 1980 she was named director of news and publications for Tech, and served in that capacity until her retirement in 1987. Bea Zeeck died in 2010.
