Biographical Sketch

In the twentieth century, wool marketing associations were formed to promote the industry and give ranchers a stronger, collective voice in regards to wool legislation. The Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association was established in 1915 with J. B. Murrah of Del Rio, Texas, selected as the first president. It was originally organized to combat sheep and goat thefts throughout the State of Texas.

The collection contains the files generated by the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association, which are organized according to committees such as Annual Meetings, legislative, marketing and promotion, American Sheep Producing Council, awards, Environmental Rights, Mohair Council of America, Natural Resources, National Wool Growers Association, Predatory Animal, and research.
