Biographical Sketch
Roy L. Dunlap was born in Canyon, Texas on August 15, 1927. He
graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949, with a degree in Civil
Engineering. He served one year with the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945, before
joining the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1953. Dunlap became a captain in 1972, and
was later promoted to Rear Admiral in 1979. Dunlap commanded the Civil
Engineering Corps, Mobile Construction Battalion, while in the Navy. He was an
engineering consultant for his firm, Dunlap & Associates in Killeen, Texas.
He also served as city manager for Snyder and Killeen.
Scope and Contents
The Dunlap Papers contain mostly business correspondence relating to his military
career in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Some files deal with his military career as Rear
Admiral from 1979 to 1982. Topics discussed include projects with which he was
associated. Most of the material is personal, such as congratulatory or welcoming
letters.
