         <p>This was a military commission appointed in 1862 by General P. O.
		  Hebert to hear cases in San Antonio, Texas, of persons arrested because of
		  Union sympathies, chiefly among German Texans, during the Civil War. Texas
		  served the Confederate States of America during the war between the states.</p>

         <head>Scope and Contents</head>
         <p>The collection contains photocopies of hand written proceedings of the
		  Confederate Military Commission (July 2 - October 10, 1862) concerning Union
		  sympathizers in Texas at the beginning of the Civil War. The original papers
		  are held in the Texas State Archive in Austin, Texas.</p>
