Ernest V. Joiner, born August 20, 1911 in Seymour, Texas, was an
outspoken editor for a number of newspapers, such as the
Ralls Banner (Texas), the Sebastopol Times
(California), and the Lincoln County News
(New Mexico). He graduated from Texas Technological College (now Texas
Tech University) with a degree in Mass Communications and was a member of the
Texas Tech Hall of Fame. Joiner's brand of editorial wit was always
controversial, and he reached prominence due to his opinionated columns. The
Joiner Papers will serve those interested in the life and times of one of the
most outspoken editors of the United States.
The papers from Ernest V. Joiner's collection consist of
correspondence, editorial news clippings, financial materials, photographs
(photocopies), plaques, awards, scrapbooks, and memorabilia. Transferred to the
audio/visual department were four oral history tapes of interviews with
Joiner.
