         <head>Biographical Sketch</head>
         <p>A home demonstration agent with the Texas Agricultural Extension
		  Service, Kate Adele Hill was born November 19, 1900, in Manor, Texas, and was
		  the author of several books. Her family was engaged in breeding Angus cattle.
		  She attended Texas Technological College and Texas Women's University,
		  receiving her Ph.D. from TWU in 1957. Hill was active in the American Texas
		  Home Economics Association, the Texas Agricultural Workers' Association, and
		  the Business and Professional Women's Association. She died in a San Angelo
		  nursing home on October 30, 1982.</p>

         <head>Scope and Contents</head>
         <p>These papers include correspondence, legal documents, literary
		  productions, photographs, post cards, printed material and scrapbook material
		  pertaining mainly to the business and civic affairs of Dr. Hill. The literary
		  publications contain extensive information on cotton industry pioneer A. L.
		  Ward.</p>
         <p>The photos were transferred to Photographs. Of special interest are
		  family photographs on the Hills' Kerr County ranch, including some from
		  Christmas seasons from 1905 to 1908 showing mesquite Christmas trees and Kate
		  Hill as a child with her parents.</p>
