Detailed Description of the Collection
A Guide to the Susan Hanson Collection, 1991-1992
Susan Hanson was a staff writer for the San Marcos Daily Record, a newspaper in San Marcos, Texas from 1982-1999. Her column covers arts and culture, including interviews with regional novelists, poets, screenwriters, as well as politics and environmental history. Ms. Hanson currently teaches in the English Department at Southwest Texas State University, and writes for a San Marcos weekly newspaper, The Chautauquan.
This collection is comprised primarily of photocopies of newspaper articles written by Susan Hanson, staff writer for the San Marcos Daily Record. Many articles are accompanied by notes and brief correspondence from the subject of the articles. The Interviews series includes handwritten notes taken during telephone interviews; articles written from these notes appear in the Articles series.
Series I. Interviews (n.d.) Handwritten, undated notes from telephone interviews by Susan Hanson. Interviews have been arranged in alphabetical order by interviewee.
Series II. Articles (1984-1992, n.d.) Photocopies of articles written by Susan Hanson, appearing in the newspaper, the San Marcos Daily Record. Some articles are accompanied by brief correspondence, both originals and photocopies, from the subject of the article. Hanson’s August 1992 interview with Beverly Lowry, regarding her novel, Crossed Over, includes a black and white photograph of Lowry. Articles have been arranged in chronological order, there are no articles representing 1988.
