<p>The Texas Historical Foundation (THF) was the fundraising and grant writing arm of
the Texas Historical Commission (formerly Texas State Historical Survey Committee).
The bulk of the records concern fundraising, primarily grant applications to outside
agencies, reports to granting agencies, information regarding National Trust grants,
and fundraising events, dating 1972-1981, undated. Also present are correspondence,
memoranda, board of directors' meeting minutes, bylaws, articles of incorporation,
budgets, financial statements, program proposals, annual reports, committee lists,
promotional material for historically-themed events in Texas, Texas Heritage Project
newsletters, project working papers and planning documents, symposia agenda, press
releases, fliers, news clippings, and draft legislation related to historic
preservation, dating 1966-1981, undated. Subjects include fundraising for the Texas
Historical Commission to support its goals of historic building preservation and
conservation, documentation of the Bybee furniture traveling exhibit, the Houston
Conference for the Revitalization of the Inner City, and general and conference
records of the Texas Heritage Council, 1977-1978, 1981. Individuals represented in
the collection include Faith Poorman Bybee, an avid collector of period furniture
and homes; former Commission directors Truett Latimer, Curtis D. Tunnell, and Robert
Watson; and Charles Woodburn, former president of the Texas State Historical Survey
