The Texas Society, Children of the American Revolution (TSCAR) is the
state chapter of a national, patriotic, youth organization composed of
individuals under the age of 22 who are lineally descended from a participant
in the American Revolution (1775-1783). Purposes of the Society are to acquire
knowledge of American history, promote the celebration of patriotic
anniversaries, preserve and restore places of historical importance associated
with veterans of the American Revolution, ascertain the deeds and honor the
memories of those who rendered service to the Revolution, and honor and cherish
the American flag. The organization has a dual hierarchical structure that
includes youth officers and corresponding adult "senior" officers. After reaching the age of 22, members
are eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution or the Sons of
the American Revolution.
Types of records include correspondence, appointments, membership
directories, newsletters, and yearbooks. Records date from 1987-1989. Records
include administrative correspondence between the Texas Society senior
president and other Children of the American Revolution (CAR) officers on
national, state and local levels. Other records cover local and national
conventions, membership drives, state merit contests, and annual awards.
