Scope and Contents of the Records

These papers were collected by Wilbur Thomas Myers of Hopkins County, Texas. Papers consist of legal documents and other records relating to residents of Hopkins County. The majority of the records are land grants from the state of Texas but other types of records include deeds, transfers of power of attorney, oaths, bonds, and tax receipts. Most of the land grants are on parchment or vellum and bear signatures of Texas governors. Unfortunately, the handwriting has faded on some of the records, especially the land grants, and portions are illegible.
