Texas Health Data Cooperative records, 1979-1984,
0.5 cubic ft.

The Texas Health Data Cooperative was an advisory group formed in 1979 to assist the Texas Department of Health in exercising its data and statistics functions as mandated by federal and state law. The Cooperative was composed of users and providers of health data, who voluntarily sought to have access to and share data for their mutual benefit. The stated purpose of the Cooperative was to examine methods of health planning data collection and dissemination as required by law, and to advise the Texas Department of Health on those methods found most fair, equitable and efficient to all parties concerned. Membership included at least 40 state agencies, all 12 Health Systems Agencies, and at least 25 associations (e.g., the American Cancer Society, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Podiatry Association, etc.). Meetings were held every month or two between June 1979 and October 1981, then again in July 1984. Committees were formed on Availability, Confidentiality, Needs, Planning, and Structure.
These records of the Texas Health Data Cooperative consist of correspondence, memoranda, mailing lists, reports, statements of accord, information forms, bylaws, minutes, presentations, etc. Dates covered are 1979-1984.
Arrangement
Arrangement is in three groups: general records, then committee records, and finally meeting records (in chronological order).
