Subjects of concern include budgets, drug benefits, drug lists, diabetes, hypertension, prevention of end-stage renal disease, multi-vitamin, calcium, and cyclosporine distribution, and legislative bills. Records consist of memoranda, statistics, printed material, statutes, a legislative bill, notes, correspondence, forms, drafts, and agenda that document the reports made to Texas legislative bodies by the Kidney Health Care Program, 1980-1984. The materials concern changes to the Kidney Health Care Act in 1980, procedural reviews by the Legislative Budget Board in 1980, a 1982 report following up on the 1980 Legislative Budget Board review, and further information from 1983-1984. The 1980 review and 1982 follow-up were concerned with improving four areas, namely, the projections of patient caseloads, providing payments in a more timely manner, computerizing fiscal data, and reporting to the 68th Legislature on the feasibility of a rate-setting methodology for kidney health care based on the cost of services during 1981 and 1982.

Records comprise reports, printed material, notes, memoranda, correspondence, statistics, proposals, sample forms, presentation materials, and drafts, 1978-1995, documenting administrative reports and special projects written and undertaken by the Texas Kidney Health Care Program (KHP). Matters of significance discussed in these documents include kidney transplants, end-stage renal disease, payment for Cyclosporin A for kidney transplant patients, the establishment of a vendor drug program pilot project (as mandated by the Sunset Commission in 1984, through the Texas Department of Health (TDH)), future objectives of the Kidney Health Care Program, and performance reports.
