An Inventory of Minnesota newspaper morgue files in the Prints and Photograph Collection at the Texas State Archives, 1923-1946
Agency HistoryThe Special Collections Department of the Minneapolis Public Library possesses a morgue of photograph and clipping files for several Minnesota newspapers dating from the late 1910s to the late 1940s. While incorporating appropriate files into its Minneapolis Collection, the department transfers files pertaining to Texas to the Texas State Archives. Scope and Contents of the RecordsThese files contain photographs and clippings of Texas athletes, educators, entertainers, politicians, criminals, and other personalities between 1923 and 1946. The images are mostly portraits and staged publicity photographs, although some capture spontaneous newsworthy events. Prominent in the collection are Texas Christian University football players Ki Aldrich and Sam Baugh, Governor James V. Allred, and the Badgett quadruplets of Galveston.
