Biographical NoteAlexei Panshin was born August 14, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan. He has a B. A. from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Librarianship from the University of Chicago. Panshin is a well-known writer and critic of science fiction. His first published story appeared in 1963. His best known work is Rite of Passage, published in 1968. His critical studies, Heinlein in Dimension, Science Fiction in Dimension, and The World Beyond the Hill, are well-regarded in academic circles.
