Breckenridge, Texas, is the county seat of Stephens County.
Established in 1885, Breckenridge was the center for an oil boom from 1918 to
1921. Presently, its industry centers around machine shops and cotton gins.

The collection consists of photographs of Breckenridge, Texas
(1898-1925). Included are photographs of oil derricks, a devastating petroleum
fire (1920s), and a panoramic view of the town (1925).
The negatives and prints are housed in separate envelopes.
