The Hyman collection contains items dating from 1849 to 1904 including an account book, printed documents consisting of pages from books and newspapers, and a handwritten recipe for cough syrup. The account book dates from 1849 to 1869 and includes various lists of purchases by individuals on items such as sugar, ginger and molasses with quantities and costs included, as well as payment for labor on farm tasks. There are also several remedies listed for illnesses such as scarlet fever, smallpox and snake bites. Found within the account book were printed documents and a creative work.

These pages contain product reviews and testimonies for various Prussian products, for the care of livestock. The handbook was printed by the Prussian Remedy Company. Also included are two half pages from a book captioned "Medicines used for..."
