Scope and Content Note

The Hunt Family Papers are comprised of correspondence and a financial document dating from 1844 to 1868. Correspondence is divided into: Ann J. Hunt, James J. Hunt and envelopes. The Ann J. Hunt section contains five letters dating from 1844 to 1857 received from: Johnson Clement, Sally T. Hunt, Alonzo Hunt, and William A. Lacey. These include offerings of condolences on the passing of her husband and son. Also of interest are two letters which refer to the sale of a female Negro slave, Eady. The James J. Hunt section includes a letter from Mrs. I. J. Fryer offering condolences on the passing of Mrs. Ann J. Hunt and asking about his college life. There are also two undated envelopes addressed to Samuel Mosley and Miss Millia Harries. The financial document is a partial 1868 receipt with stamps.
