		<head>Creator Sketch</head> 
		<p>Albert Kresse of Stuttgart, Germany was born in 1886 and died in 1961.  Kresse is a noted bibliographer of author Charles Sealsfield (1793-1864) born as Karl Postl.  Sealsfield wrote about North America and Europe and is believed to have traveled through Texas during the 1820s.</p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head> 
		<p>This collection is comprised of printed materials (8) and photographs(4), primarily relating to Charles Sealsfield.  The printed materials include German postcards of Charles Sealsfield, a lithograph of Karl Postl/Sealsfield and a biography of Charles Sealsfield written by Albert Kresse.  Also included is the engraving <title render="italic">Galveston in Texas</title> printed in Germany.  The photographs series contains reproductions of two portraits of Charles Sealsfield, one by C. Rust in 1863 and the other taken in 1864.  A photograph of a monument to Charles Sealsfield is included.  There is a photograph of a print of Andrew Jackson noted as the last likeness of him. </p>
