Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NotePrescriptions, formulas, correspondence, notes, and a photograph document a portion of the business of Miller & Brockette, Druggists, in Itasca, Texas from 1885-1914. Of particular interest is a notebook (ca. 1888) compiled by T. K. Miller and containing formulas for a variety of compounds including Rheumatism Liniment, Furniture Polish, Ink, Heave Cure, and Dr. O. W. Cowan's Dead-shot on Johnson Grass. Two pamphlets advertise products of interest to druggists. A Few Good Things Illustrated from Frederick Stearns & Co. of Detroit, Michigan, contains in addition to information on products such as Wine of Cod Liver Oil and Kolavin, engravings of the bottles. The Parke Davis & Co. pamphlet, Fluid Extracts & Other Pharmaceuticals, Especially Adapted to the Convenience of Druggists, includes formulas for pharmaceutical compounds in addition to the chemicals being offered for sale. An advertisement for the Florence Faradic Battery (1885) underscores Miller's fascination with new devices. The single photograph shows the interior of the Miller & Brockette Drug Store ca. 1910-1920. Return to the Table of Contents
