Stalnaker Family PapersManuscript Collection: MC034
Creator SketchAdam Cloud, the great grandfather of the donors and the first Episcopal clergyman in Mississippi, arrived in Texas in 1831. His son, John W. Cloud, was the first Episcopal priest in Texas, although he did not publicly practice his ministry after immigration. The Stalnakers' maternal grandmother was Ann Johnson Mather, the second wife of Asa Brigham, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Captain Joseph Walker was a great uncle of the donors.
