Biographical / Historical

Richard G. Park, Jr.'s 7th Division was mustered into service at Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania, in 1916 and was composed of elements of the Pennsylvania National Guard and Guard units from neighboring states. It was deployed to El Paso in June 1916 to serve along the Mexican border as the regular army Punitive Expedition entered Mexico. Elements of the division began to return to Pennsylvania in December and early 1917 their mustering out was halted by the coming of the First World War.

Scope and Contents

The scrapbook contains photographs of the unit’s officers and some of its senior non-commissioned officers, as well as photos of daily life at camp including individual combat training and weapons practice.
