Houston artist Howard Sherman received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of Texas, Austin in 1993. After a five-year career as a syndicated daily newspaper cartoonist, he began his graduate studies and obtained a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas in 2006. In 2005, Sherman had his first solo exhibition: “Scratch That Itch.” Since then, Sherman has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, has had his work featured in New American Painting, and has completed two residencies at North Harris College (2007) and the McColl Center for Visual Art (2008). His works appear in the permanent collection of the Art Museum of South Texas, and are featured in the book "Texas Abstract: Modern-Contemporary."
