Historical Note

William Marsh Rice University (commonly called Rice University and opened in 1912 as The William Marsh Rice Institute for the Advancement of Letters, Science and Art) is a private, comprehensive research university located in Houston, Texas, United States.


Scope and Contents

This is a collection of slides used for various slide show presentations relating to Rice University. Several slides are of campus architecture, including aerial views. Many slide shows are the construction or renovation of buildings, including installation of astro turf in the stadium. There are slides of two football games, Rice vs Arkansas, and Texas A&M vs Rice. Several slides are of campus events, graduations, parades, and student life. Some of these slide shows were created for presentations at alumni events.
