Biographical / Historical

Ingeborg "Inge" Henriette Larrey (b. January 21, 1934 in Freiburg, Germany) is a freelance photographer, specializing in images of blues, jazz and gospel performers in the Houston area. After working as an international photographer and au pair in Germany, Finland, England, Belgium, Spain and Turkey, she married Louis A. Larrey in 1981 and subsequently immigrated to the United States, settling in Houston in 1983. Her photographs have been featured in various publications (including the Houston Chronicle and Houston Post), as well as on cassette and record covers. Her subjects include Houston architecture, the Houston Rodeo and Trail Riders, and various cultural events around Texas, in addition to her work with the Houston jazz and blues scene. Her friendship with Houston trumpeter and bandleader Milt Larkin and his family allowed her the opportunity to document his career over many years. She is a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and a founding member of the Milt Larkin Jazz Society. Larrey retired to Germany in 2007.
