Guide to the Charles A. Somerset Letter, July 30, 1828 MS 122
Little is known about C.A. Somerset other than what he says in this 1828 letter where he describes himself as "Dramatist to the Surrey Theatre, and the author Crazy Jane, The Nightingale, The Raven, Swiss Family, etc."
This is a handwritten letter dated July 30, 1828 and signed by C.A. Somerset. The letter is addressed to an un-named publisher, in which Somerset refers to a short manuscript sent with the letter and requests addresses for "respectable publishers in the Whig interest." The letter is one sheet of paper measuring 16 cm by 20 cm. The paper is in excellent shape except for two corners, which are torn off probably as a result of the wax used to seal the letter. The torn corners do not affect the handwriting, which is very clear.
