	 <head>Biographical Note</head> 
	 <p>Ann Marie Stewart Turner and her husband James Turner were both
		residents of Galveston, Texas. They were married on May 25, 1859. James Turner
		was a Confederate soldier in the U.S. Civil War and was killed in 1864 while
		fighting at Petersburg, Virginia.</p>

	 <p>This collection consists of correspondence primarily between Ann Marie
		Stewart Turner and her husband, James Turner. The remaining correspondence is
		amongst Mrs. Turner and other family and friends. The content of these letters
		includes mostly family and personal affairs. The collection contains 47
		letters, 5 cartes de visite, and various letter fragments, notes, and
		envelopes</p>

			 letter dated August 23, 1863, Marie Turner informs James Turner of his sister
