	 <head>Biographical Note</head><p>Sarah Austin (1793-1867) was an English
		writer and translator, and the wife of jurist John Austin. She urged the
		establishment in England of a national system of education and is best known
		for her work 
	 <title render="italic">Germany from 1760 to 1814</title>, a survey of
	 German institutions and manners. </p>
