Biographical Note

Lia Unrau served from 1995-2001 as Science Editor for the Rice News, a publication produced by the Office of Media Relations and Information within Rice University’s Department of Public Affairs. She accumulated the files in this collection during the course of research conducted for the articles she wrote, often involving background research along with interviews with Rice faculty members and other experts in the field of science. She also assisted with media relations for the schools of engineering and science, and with various science-related conferences held on the Rice campus.

The Lia Unrau science news research files were compiled by Unrau during her tenure as Science Editor in the Office of Media Relations and Information at Rice University (1995-2001), consisting of notes from research and interviews, press releases, technical materials, news clippings, photographs and related ephemera. Materials are arranged alphabetically in folders by titles, as given on the original folders.
