An Inventory of His Records at the Houston Metropolitan Research Center, Houston Public Library
Paul E. Ward, 1906-1973, was closely involved in Harris County law enforcement activities from 1951 through 1973. He was a deputy sheriff from 1951-1953 until resigning to become a professional bail bondsman. Ward was a bondsman until 1970 when he rejoined the Harris County Sheriff's Department for a brief period. In 1971 he became court bailiff for Judge John Snell, 152nd Civil District Court, serving until his death in 1973. A former army pilot instructor, Ward organized the Harris County Sheriff's Air Patrol in 1951.
The collection includes material relating to the Harris County Sheriff's Air Patrol such as membership lists, applications, newspaper clippings, and photographs.
In addition to the air patrol material, there is a large colection of newspaper clippings relating to the bail bond business.
