Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe collection consists of his business and some personal correspondence from 1922 to 1929 with the bulk of the material spanning the years 1927-1929. Three volumes consist of correspondence between Dr. Barton and the Freeport Sulphur Company (1927-1928), the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas (1926-1929), and the Association of Petroleum Geologists (1929). Most of the correspondence details the first two years of his career as a consulting geologist. It reflects business transactions between Dr. Barton and his clients as well as letters of inquiry from parties both in the United States and Europe. Some of the material is technical, dealing with techniques of geophysical exploration in addition to the areas of exploration. Return to the Table of Contents
