Biographical Note
William (Bill) Groneman was born in Rockaway Beach, New York, in 1952 and grew up in Howard Beach, a neighborhood in New York City. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in history. After working for three years as a Uniformed Court Officer in New York City Criminal Court, Groneman entered the New York City Fire Department in 1977, retiring in 2002 to pursue his writing career.
Groneman’s research and writing explore the history of the American West. He has written extensively on the Battle of the Alamo and David Crockett, focusing specifically on the conflicting stories surrounding both.
