A Guide to the Bill Groneman Production Papers, 1988-1993
Biographical NoteWilliam (Bill) Groneman was born in Rockaway Beach, New York, in 1952 and grew up in Howard Beach, a neighborhood in New York City. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in history. After working for three years as a Uniformed Court Officer in New York City Criminal Court, Groneman entered the New York City Fire Department in 1977, retiring in 2002 to pursue his writing career. Groneman’s research and writing explore the history of the American West. He has written extensively on the Battle of the Alamo and David Crockett, focusing specifically on the conflicting stories surrounding both. Scope and Content NoteThe collection contains typescripts, galley copies, and other material related to the production of three books by Bill Groneman: Roll Call at the Alamo (co-authored by Phil Rosenthal); Alamo Defenders: A Genealogy, the People and Their Words; and Defense of a Legend: Crockett and the de la Peña Diary.
