A Guide to the Robert Duncan Papers, 1903-1951
Biographical NoteRobert Duncan was born on 1911 April 29 in Clarita, Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and obtained a master’s degree in music from the Chicago Music College. In 1945, Duncan became an owner and partner in the Sergent, Duncan and Rine insurance agency in San Antonio, Texas, positions he held until he sold the business in 1979. Duncan served as president of the San Antonio Association of Insurance Agents and was a member of the National Association of Insurance Agents. Participating in several other organizations, Duncan was a charter member of the Alamo Kiwanis Club and an accomplished nature photographer. Robert Duncan married Ruth Starkey in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1933; the couple had two sons. Robert Duncan died in San Antonio on 1992 April 3.
