Albert R. Enderle (1914-1982) worked as an insurance agent in San Antonio and Houston, Texas. Along with his mother, Mary Ann Harris Enderle, he gathered family material and genealogical information on several branches of his family.
Letters, collected genealogical sources, and photographs make up the Albert R. Enderle family papers, providing information on the Dismukes, Goodrich, Harris, and Enderle families.
The family correspondence, in manuscript and transcript forms, includes letters sent and received by Washington Edmund and Sarah Dismukes Goodrich of Seguin, Texas. These and other letters discuss family matters and business. Genealogical information is found in correspondence, family documents, published works, newspaper clippings, and notes. Identified photographs include members of the Harris and Dismukes families; a photograph album contains portraits of Harris family members.
Also included with the papers are three cased photographs and a photograph album belonging to San Antonio newspaper editor James Pearson Newcomb, the uncle of Dorris Enderle. Only a small number of these are identified; most of the photographs in the album bear the marks of photographers outside of Texas. Several of the identified portraits are of cadets at Norwich University of Northfield, Vermont, and date from the Civil War, when the pro-Union Newcomb was in exile from Texas.
