Contemporary House Records
The Contemporary House was a furniture store founded by Ethel Gene Pilley and Greta Stogsdill in 1949. Ms. Pilley and Ms. Stogsdill founded the store with money borrowed from friends and acquaintances after they had difficulty finding contemporary style furniture for a house they had built together in 1941. The business grew into a multimillion dollar enterprise.
This collection is comprised of letters, some legal documents and brochures pertaining to Contemporary House business. There is also a legal document explaining ownership of the house owned by Ms. Pilley and Ms. Stogsdill
