	<head>Biographical Note</head>
	<p>North Bigbee was a Dallas writer who received degrees in English and Journalism from Southern Methodist University. He worked at the <emph render="italic">Dallas Morning News</emph> as oil editor and as Public Relations Director of the Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association during the 1920s and '30s, but also began to develop a career as a freelance writer. During World War II he was a business editor for the Army publication <emph render="italic">Yank</emph>. Following the war, Bigbee worked primarily as a freelance writer, publishing articles in over 50 magazines including <emph render="italic">Readers Digest</emph> and <emph render="italic">Esquire</emph>. He also wrote plays, sometimes collaborating with Walter Holbrook. Bigbee died in 1979 at the age of 75.</p>

	<head>Scope and Contents</head>
	<p>By no means an overview of Bigbee's career, this collection does hold examples of his poetry, plays, short stories, lyrics, and non-fiction writing as well as a small amount of correspondence, notes about plot ideas, and outlines covering composition strategy and effective writing techniques.</p>
