Abstract: Edna Rowe was born in 1873 near Courtney, Texas. She moved to Dallas as a young girl and attended the Dallas Female Academy. She then graduated from the University of Texas with her Bachelor and Masters degrees in education, and began a successful teaching career. She traveled all over North America and Europe. Miss Rowe was a civic leader and longtime resident of Dallas who collected an impressive amount of postcards from her travels. Miss Rowe died in 1965 at the age of 92 in Dallas.

Ms Rowe was a civic leader and longtime resident of Dallas who collected an impressive amount of postcards from her travels. Ms. Rowe died in 1965 at the age of 92 in Dallas.


Scope and Contents

This Collection contains the personal papers of Edna Rowe, newspaper articles about her, some papers she collected about Texas independence, and an impressive postcard collection from all over the world. The collection is arranged topically, with postcards being the bulk of the collection, dates ranging from 1890s through the 1940s. Some personal items of Ms Rowe, such as her high school and college diplomas, a service medal, and several photographs of Ms Rowe.

Separated Material

There are three copies of the New York Ledger, ranging from February to July 1863. The newspapers did not seem to fit with the collection.
