The group Peace Action Texas was formed by the the merger of SANE and The Freeze. The group has worked tirelessly over the years to reduce the threat of living with nuclear weapons. The group believes that war is not the correct response to resolve conflict and advocates for better foreign policy based on human rights and democracy.
The Texas affilliate is one of 30 state groups across the country. The group utilizes grassroots efforts to pressure congress and local governments to change their policies. Through conferences, citizen lobbying, direct action, petitions, and other tactics, they work to get peace legislation pushed through in hopes of creating a more well connected global community of peace.
