Penn Riddle Collection
Biographical NoteBorn in Grandbury, Dr. Penn Riddle spent his formative years in Dallas, graduating from the Bryan Street High School. After receiving his medical degree at Baylor University and completing post graduate work abroad, Dr. Riddle settled back in Dallas, serving on the staff of Methodist Hospital and keeping offices in the Medical Arts Building until his retirement in 1959. In addition to his medical duties, Dr. Riddle was also a very active member of the Kessler Park Methodist Church and various civic organizations. Dr. Riddle married Ms. Katharine Harris of Oak Cliff in 1927. That marriage produced two daughters. Dr. Riddle passed away in 1961. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThis collection concentrates on the separate childhood and high school experiences of Dr. Penn Riddle and his wife, Katharine Harris. The majority of the materials pertain to Ms. Harris and concentrate on her musical activities at Oak Cliff High School and her graduation correspondence. The materials pertaining to Dr. Riddle concentrate on his extra curricular activities, including Baraca classes through Grace ME, South church. Although the collection centers on the experiences of Dr. Riddle and his wife in their formative years, there are a few items that focus on their life together as well as items that center on extended family.
